New Guide from Egsa Press Helps Games Make History

The Armchair Historian’s Guide 2015 Edition (84 pp., tpb, $12.95) gives grassroots indie videogaming fans the chance to make history. The new book from the legendary grognards of Egsa Press is designed to fuel the drive for competitive indie videogaming. The Armchair Historian’s Guide 2015 Edition is available now.

The Armchair Historian’s Guide takes readers through a fast paced tour of video gaming’s rich shared tradition of celebrating achievements in gaming by keeping score. Referencing the iconic armchair that is often the center of control for gamers, the guide reminds gamers that whether they choose to observe, chronicle or make the digital record books, all gamers play an important role in the tradition of gaming. The pocket guide also serves as a manifesto for the concepts behind the first leaderboard for indie games; the WorldStandings Network (WSN). Included in the text is the print edition of the Articles of Play. The Articles of Play establish the competitive framework for the WorldStandings Tournament Regulations (WSTR) used by the leaderboard.

The first edition of The Armchair Historian’s Guide 2015 Edition (ISBN 978-0-98854167-1-0) is available as a limited run signature print edition. The print edition has an MSRP of 12.95 USD. The Armchair Historian’s Guide 2015 Edition is currently available at the Egsa Outfitters (www.egsaoutfitters.com) and is slated to be available in wider release this fall.

Egsa SoftWorks and Egsa Press bring first Quantum Set App to Windows Phone 8

Egsa SoftWorks has released its new character creation app for Windows Phone 8. The new MindLathe Mobile app allows gamers, authors and game masters to generate “minds” for almost any setting where compelling characters are needed. The app is first app implementing Egsa’s newly announced Quantum Set Roleplaying System.

With an easy to use interface, MindLathe eliminates the need to rely on paper and dice to generate new roleplaying game characters. Users adjust a single slider bar and press the sculpt button to activate the lathe and fashion a new character. Characters include not only traditional statistics, but they also include an innovative new set of descriptors that describe the “mind” of the character called the Quantum Persona Vector. MindLathe also features the Quantum Set’s predictive leveling masks and contextual masks to show the potential of a character to level up.

MindLathe uses the all new HEXADE personality inventory from the modular Quantum Set Roleplaying System to create a wide range of character templates that can be exported and customized by the gamer, author or game master. While MindLathe opens up a wide range of possibilities for gamers of every type, MindLathe and the Quantum Set can be leveraged to design characters for traditional fiction and interactive fiction. Characters statics generated by the Quantum Set have already appeared in the series bibles of works such as the Nomicon Saga series.

MindLathe is now on Windows Phone 8 and is currently available from the Windows Phone Store. MindLathe Mobile $0.99 in the U.S.
